The game studio behind Ninja Gaiden and the Dead or Alive series is developing a sequel to arena brawler Final Fantasy Dissidia for the PS4, publisher Square Enix revealed in an announcement trailer revealed today.
Presented under the working title of Final Fantasy Dissidia NT, the trailer for Team Ninja’s upcoming game teases three-vs-three battles, a new feature to the series. The video also includes the same combination of traditional role-playing and real-time fighting game mechanics present in the previous installment.
The trailer shows off characters from multiple entries throughout the history of Final Fantasy, the popular Japanese role-playing franchise, including Squall Leonhart, Locke Cole, and Cloud Strife.
The original entry in the fighting game spin-off series was released in 2008 on the PlayStation Portable. While the game does not have a release date, the video teases an “early 2018” window.
